Come teach English as a part of a nationally sponsored program this August 2010!
Costa Rica English for Sustainable Tourism (CREST) emerged from President Oscar Arias’ initiative, Costa Rica Multilingüe, which seeks to improve the competitive environment of the country by increasing the number of English in Costa Rica. CREST was established in 2009 with the enthusiasm of 5 volunteers, but our goal is to have more than 300 volunteers in the first five years. CREST grows with the commitment of volunteers worldwide and the support of a wide range of national and international organizations.
Job description:
Volunteers will live with host families in rural communities throughout the country for a period of 4 months, and will be responsible for 20 hours of class time and 20 hours of preparation. Our program is unique in that we serve the tourism sector where there is an immediate need to learn English. Our teachers serve as community teachers for professionals from the tourism sector, such as hotels, various public institutions, restaurants, and local tourism organizations.
Qualifications:
*University degree
*TEFL (or the equivalent) certified or years of teaching experience
*Independence
* Willingness to adapt
*Native English speaker
*Organization and responsibility
*Experience living in another country
*Commitment to service
*Ability to relate and communicate well with others
When: August 23rd – December 17th
Program fee: $1,250 USD for 4 months
Program fee includes:
*3 meals a day
*Lodging
*Transportation from San José to your community
*Teaching Materials
*A 5 day intensive orientation program
*Ongoing support from the Program Coordinator
*Site visits from the Program Coordinator
