The Department of English Education at the Catholic University of Daegu is seeking a full-time qualified instructor to begin teaching from the fall of 2010. The University is a regional comprehensive university in the south of Korea. Located in the suburban area of Daegu, it offers modern facilities on a beautiful campus within convenient driving distance of the cultural activities of Daegu, the third largest city of Korea, and Gyeongju, commonly referred to as the "museum without walls". The Department opened the program in the spring of 2007 with the smartest students in the area.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Native speaker of English
* Masters or higher degrees in English or a relevant area of linguistics from accredited universities
* PhD degree holder preferred
* Basic level of Korean proficiency preferred

Main Responsibilities:
1. Teach speaking/writing courses provided by the Department
2. Observe 3 office hours per week, and attend staff meetings as necessary
3. Manage study groups for speaking and writing skills

Working Conditions:
* Teaching load: 9 credit hours per week (In case of conversation courses, 2 class hours are regarded as 1 credit hour)
* Contract: 1 year contract from September 1, 2010 to August. 31, 2011. A contract can be renewed annually with the approval of Human Resources Committee.

Salary and Other Benefits:
* Salary: about 2.3 million won/month (Annually 28 million won, exclusive of tax), depending on work experience
* Housing: Accommodation close to the campus will be provided
* Health Insurance (family coverage) and the Korea Teachers Pension: both are partially financed by the University
* Travel Grant: for a successful candidate from overseas, an economy class flight ticket will be reimbursed.
* Research Grant: a successful candidate will also be allowed up to 5 million won for his or her publication(s) into the journals of SCI/AHCI or other equivalents during the contract period (the candidate must be the first author, regardless of how many others are with him or her)
